Levels of Care

PHASE 1: DETOX

High Point's detoxification program is a supportive, medically based program designed to assist the patient's detoxification process in a safe and efficient manner. The detox protocol is based on the type, amount, and length of time of the substance abuse. Based on these factors, the patient may be prescribed medication to assist in coping with symptoms they may have. The patient is seen daily by our medical doctor and educated by the nursing team about medications they are given. During detox, the patient will be asked to focus on their treatment; therefore phone communication will be limited to specific times. We encourage the patient to begin attending groups and lectures as soon as possible. If the patient feels physically unable to attend a group they may get permission from their counselor or a nurse to be excused. The patient will be seen by one of our counselors the day after admission. At this time, an initial assessment will be conducted, questions will be answered, and the patient will be oriented to the program.

PHASE 2:

RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT

The Residential Program is fully structured with daily group therapy, lectures, and other activities. We encourage the patient to attend all the scheduled activities. Attached are rules to be followed while in the program. These are not meant to be punitive. They are necessary for the program to run smoothly. For the course of treatment, this will be the patient's community. We ask that all patients be respectful of other patients, the staff, the facility, and our beautiful grounds. In the event of issues or concerns, we have a grievance/suggestion process. These forms are available across from the nursing station. Patients are encouraged to voice any grievances or suggestions that they may have. Once the patient is medically cleared from detox status, they will be assigned a Primary Counselor. The Primary Counselor is the main contact and resource throughout the patients stay. He/she will determine treatment goals, assess progress, determine the discharge date, and finalize aftercare plans with your family member.

PHASE 3:

PARTIAL HOSPITALIZATION (PHP)

After being in the residential program for a number of days, the patient may be transferred to our PHP Program. (Patients are also able to enter PHP directly.) This program continues to provide the structure needed for sober living by allowing the patient to live in a supportive setting and return daily for treatment at the facility. The PHP schedule is 8:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, and 8:30 am to 1:00 pm on Sunday. The PHP Program is integrated into the residential setting so that continuum of care will not be interrupted. While in the PHP Program, the patient will be able to apply principles they have learned in previous levels of care. Preventing relapse and identifying everyday challenges is the primary focus of the PHP program. 12-Step recovery meeting attendance and sponsorship is strongly recommended. We can assist in finding meetings in the patients area.

PHASE 4:

INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM (IOP)

High Point's IOP Program is designed to allow the patient as much flexibility as possible without abandoning the structure needed for continued recovery. The IOP schedule is three (3) days per week; Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. (As with PHP, patients are able to enter IOP directly.) IOP is for patients who need a minimal amount of structure to remain clean and sober. Patient is required to attend all group therapy sessions and will be offered weekly individual therapy sessions, where indicated. 12-Step recovery meeting attendance and sponsorship is strongly recommended. Aftercare is free to all former patients and meets at the facility every Thursday evening from 6-8 pm.
